Forms are a key element in any website which needs to collect data from its users. Traditionally, a form was added to a site as a static entity, which sat on the contact page, asking standard questions and accepting replies – then sending these replies to a site administrator. Today though, the web has moved on, and people expect more interactivity from their websites – it’s all about ‘engagement’ – how much you can interact with a visitor, keep them on your site longer, and make them feel that you really understand their needs and wants.

Forms on the Fly’s intelligent forms allow you to do just this – whether you want to add lead generation forms, diagnostic forms, or forms just for fun, our technology lets you design a form which not only asks questions, but also listens to the replies. What this means is that you can reply instantly to a form fill with much more than a simple “thank you” – in fact, if you wish, you can use the replies to generate a bespoke response to that visitor. So if you provide a range of services and the purpose of your form is to help your visitor choose one, it’s time to stop asking questions and replying later. Set up a Forms on the Fly form, ask the same questions, and then deliver your recommendation there and then. You can even add hyperlinks to direct your visitor to the right page on your site. Imagine being able to act as an on-site advisor 24/7, totally automatically, and without even having to be in front of your PC waiting for visitors. You can get on with building your business, and let Forms on the Fly show your visitors what they need to know.

FoF Pro – which will be publicly available later this year – is already delivering results for a number of companies.

ICLP, the global leader in loyalty marketing, needed to quickly deploy an incentivised feedback form, in 8 language versions, to test satisfaction with a client’s new site. Forms on the Fly simplified the task of creating forms with complex responses dependent on answers given and, with a small amount of bespoke work from our development team, enabled them to deliver the whole project far more quickly than had been possible in the past.

Forms on the Fly has been designed to give non-technical users a very simple way of creating forms with functionality that would otherwise require expert programming.
Pro builds on this user-friendly tool-set, and offers the flexibility to deliver highly specified bespoke systems speedily and at a low cost, reducing ongoing administration time and delivering a more seamless journey for users.

In addition to the tools available in Premier, Forms on the Fly Pro includes the following, easily manageable (by non-technical users) features:
• Own-branded domain
• Choice of HTML template
• Advanced logic for visitor feedback and forwarding
• Randomised questions
• Integration with CRM, email marketing or other systems

Assessments & Diagnostics for Health & Fitness Professionals

We just had some great feedback on the value of Forms on the Fly to a client — so thought we’d share it! Forms on the Fly is gaining a reputation as a valuable tool for health and fitness professionals. All of them use assessment and diagnostic tools in some form — whether it’s purely through structured conversations, or by using more formalised paper-based questionnaires.

With Forms on the Fly, it’s a quick and easy process to automate these for use online, as James Lamper of Weightmatters has done so successfully. James specialises in the psychology of eating behaviour. He helps his clients to create a new relationship with food, eating and their body.

James wanted more interaction on his website, so that potential customers could explore their weight and health issues at a time to suit them. In effect, anyone with a worry or concern about their weight could begin to benefit from James’ expertise 24/7. Using Forms on the Fly, it was simple matter to transform some of the diagnostics he was already using in his consultations into interactive questionnaires offering instant feedback. James says “Building trust and a relationship with my prospects before a sale makes it so much easier, and Forms on the Fly gives me so many options to connect with real people.”

James’ aim was to heighten the interest of prospects visiting his site, and to provide a way to show his knowledge and skills in the field. Forms on the Fly tools enables him to do both. To make it an even more powerful as a marketing tool, if a respondent’s answers suggest that they may need help, they are offered a special discount when they submit one of Weightmatter’s forms. The numbers speak for themselves: in January, 11 people completed one of his online diagnostics and three of those are now clients. As each client is worth over £1,000, James emailed us to say “This is an amazing result. Forms on the Fly has made a tremendous impact on my business, and I would recommend this geat service to any business”.

Quizzes for online newspaper engage their readers

The Tab is an online newspaper for students at Cambridge University. It’s run by students, and is the only newspaper in Cambridge operated solely by students. Using Forms on the Fly they have transformed their quizzes from lists of questions and answers to interactive and engaging games.

Lottie Unwin, Associate Editor, commented: ‘The ability to add scores and provide users with an assessment at the end of the questions, creates an experience. Because we exist only online, creating a quiz the reader can enjoy alone, rather than requiring a partner to read out the questions, is very important to us. And, with the branding option, the quizzes add a very easy professional touch to our site. As we are run entirely by volunteers, the speed with which such a professional tool can be employed is very useful.’

Using quizzes built with Forms on the Fly has increased the average time readers spend on the Tab site, which is an important statistic for potential advertisers. Lottie said: ‘I have been very surprised, and delighted, to see how many readers complete the quizzes. For example, we recently published the “Tab’s Big 2010 Quiz” which so far has been read by 1,261 people and 424 readers have finished the 15 question quiz.’

Now they’ve seen the potential, they are beginning to think more broadly about ways they can use the Forms on the Fly application across their site, employing it, for example, to find out more about their writers. Their staff can quickly teach themselves how to use the application and soon find it useful for implementing lots of their ideas.

Using Forms on the Fly as an educational tool for pre-screening & assessments

CDA carry out a range of training and workshop modules for a broad range of large organisations. This work includes contributing to the post-graduate programme at the Brighton & Sussex Medical School, helping future health leaders manage and communicate knowledge.

The sessions cover a lot of ground, and it’s very helpful if the attendees begin the day with a good understanding of what will be covered and some of the core underlying concepts. The post graduate programme is taught in modules so attendees may need to get back ‘into the zone’ after a period away from studying. It’s also important that CDA understand competency levels and concerns in advance so that the pitch of the training can be adjusted if required.

Forms on the Fly enables them to:

Use the forms as mini-questionnaires, with quiz elements, allowing people to demonstrate understanding / skill sets, rate competency levels and flag key areas of interest and concern. The forms are easy to create and highly flexible. They can divide the forms into sections and use a combination of response options including multiple-choice and free text.

Record who has completed each form so they can chase slow responders (who can be emailed directly from the system).

They can also include additional insights either onscreen as people are completing the questionnaire or when they download their completed version. These insights add context to the questions, explain less familiar concepts and also provide a springboard to background reading.

Anne Caborn of CDA commented: ‘Forms on the Fly adds value to the day and puts delegates into direct contact with us online via our blog (it could just as easily be our website), so encouraging them to browse the rest of our offering and download research, white papers etc. We are currently looking at creating a more generic quiz with Forms on the Fly, to use as a broader business engagement tool.’

Forms on the Fly was designed as a flexible way of designing interactive forms and quizzes for all kinds of applications, but we think that one of the most powerful and valuable uses is for on-site lead generation forms for small business. The reason is this – standard forms just take data from visitors, they interrogate but don’t reply, and this means that once your visitor fills out your contact form and leaves your site, it’s a race against time to contact them before the competition does.

What Forms on the Fly does is provide a set of tools which enable you to extend your contact form with a set of questions designed to find out exactly what your visitor wants – and then (here’s the clever bit), deliver them personalised advice based on their answers.

So let’s assume you sell website hosting. You have 3 products, all of which are different, and you want to promote the right one to each visitor. If they phoned you, you’d know exactly what to ask, and what replies to give – and by doing so, you’d lead your prospect towards one of your products – the one right for their needs.

With Forms on the Fly, you can do exactly this, but automatically and without any help from you. All you need to do is translate your typical questions into a form, and add this form to your site. Now when your visitors hit your site, they fill out your form, answer the questions, and using our reponse scoring technology you can direct them to the best possible page on your site, and promote the most suitable product or service for their needs – all of this happens automatically, and you get an email with their details so you can follow up. We know that many business owners hate cold calling – well now you can warm up your visitors before you call – capture their details and their needs, and contact them to confirm the solution your interactive form delivered.

Forms on the Fly is an evolution in contact form technology – make the most of every visitor who comes to your site – they are all looking for something, so why not ask them, evaluate their responses and deliver your solution, around the clock, and automatically?

Try Forms on the Fly now – we have a Free Forever version, which you can use to evaluate the system, and we offer a premier plan at £7 ($12) per month, which allows you to add your own branding, and includes support for HTML in the response – which means you can direct your visitors to specific pages on your site, or even affiliated links on other sites.

We are today pleased to announce a number of major new features for our leading, cloud-based, interactive form designer, aimed at helping small businesses, educators and other professionals engage more directly with their online audience.

Vicky Carne, Forms on the Fly CEO, said, “Professionals of all kinds are already using Forms on the Fly to attract new leads, engage with clients, and obtain diagnostic information. For this major new update, our aim was to improve the system making it even easier for our users to share their forms with the wider world through social networks. We are also pleased to announce a new ‘Free Forever’ version of Forms on the Fly, aimed particularly at non-commercial users. We believe that both of these developments will allow a broader range of users to leverage the power of Forms on the Fly by engaging with more of their target audience in a compelling and interactive way.”

Forms on the Fly offers a revolutionary way to generate interest in your product or service by using interactive form technology to engage with your visitors. Users can easily create forms designed to discover needs and deliver personalised feedback. They can then deploy them on their site, and share through email or via social networks including, Facebook and Twitter. Details of every form completed are immediately sent back to the creator, ready to be actioned.

The basic version is Free Forever. The Premier version at £7 ($12) a month unlocks advanced features including own branding, and removes advertising.

About Forms on the Fly

http://www.formsonthefly.co.uk – ‘Intelligent Forms for Smarter People’

Forms on the Fly is a UK-based start-up which promises to help business professionals add on-site forms and tests that deliver individualised feedback based on answers given. Forms on the Fly is different because the forms it creates are interactive – by assessing and scoring responses, a personalised verdict is automatically delivered to the respondent. Marketers are using the system to question visitors and send them to appropriate external sites via affiliate links. Educators have been using Forms on the Fly to pre-screen potential students, and to test existing candidates. The potential uses of Forms on the Fly are unlimited – anyone who wants to engage with more visitors can add a form to their site, or generate a link to attract respondents via Facebook or Twitter. Details of every form completed are immediately sent back to the creator, ready to be actioned.

Forms on the Fly was founded by Vicky Carne, who has over 25 years’ entrepreneurial experience creating and building new technology businesses. In the 80s she founded Mosaic Publishing, a computer games company (bestsellers included ‘The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole’, ‘Yes, Prime Minister’ and the first soap computer game, ‘The Archers’).

More recently she co-founded Email Reaction, a pioneering provider of email marketing technology boasting a high-profile client list including Times Newspapers, Penguin Books and Adecco.

When we originally launched we promoted Forms on the Fly with the tag line ‘it’s not a survey tool’. But, apparently, that confused people who thought we meant is WAS a survey tool (no, I don’t get it either!).

When we originally launched we promoted Forms on the Fly with the tag line ‘it’s not a survey tool’. But, apparently, that confused people who thought we meant is WAS a survey tool (no, I don’t get it either!).

So we don’t say that any more. Except here. Forms on the Fly is different from other form building tools. It’s not designed to be used for contact forms or surveys or polls (although you can use it for those to an extent). We think it’s unique – and so far no one’s told us we’re wrong.

Ok, here’s why:

With form building tools for surveys (you know who they are), respondents answer questions and you (the surveyor) can access a variety of statistical reports derived from the aggregated results.

With Forms on the Fly, respondents complete your form which is then processed individually to immediately provide the respondent with their own personal feedback report based on the answers they gave. Yes, you may have to do a little more work in initially creating the form – you’re providing the answers as well as the questions – but think how much time you’ll save by having an interactive form doing all the repetitive, initial Q&A of prospecting groundwork for you.
